Uffculme Nursery: 0 - 3 years

We offer flexible and all inclusive childcare, for all ages, specifically designed to suit your needs. We have a thriving and nurturing baby room offering a home-from-home experience for your young child. Our baby room staff are specially trained and extremely experienced in looking after very young children.

There are free Government funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. At Kingwood, children are placed in small groups in their own classrooms, with very experienced staff, including a qualified Primary School teacher with 16 years experience. We work closely with all the local primary schools we feed to ensure a smooth and successful transition into school. Our Pre-School curriculum is an exciting mix of seasonal themes and festivals - based on the children’s needs and interests. We often finish the day with story time on the green by the river.

Breakfast club

Uffculme: 07.30 - 09.00.

We have a variety of foods on offer for our children including cooked food if they desire as well as a pancake bar, fresh fruit, yoghurt, porridge, cereals and, on special occasions, Danish pastries.

We start our day with a healthy walk along the River Culm to Uffculme Primary School. We also provide a school drop off to nearby Culmstock Primary School, and children are settled into their class on arrival.

If your child has any special dietary requirements, we are very happy to cater for those as well. All children attending our Breakfast Clubs are provided with a toothbrush and toothpaste, to make sure personal hygiene is part of the daily routine.

After School club

Uffculme is open up to and, by prior arrangement, beyond 18.00.

Children can choose whether they join our Classroom Crusaders and take part in planned arts and crafts activities based at the Kingwood Centre, or they can become an Eager Explorer and take part in outdoor activities such as river fishing, allotment trips, den building, trips to the farm or recycling at Magelake. We end the session with a fantastic home-made meal by our in house Chef Tracey, sometimes using the produce we have collected from our own allotment!

We provide a school run to both Uffculme Primary and Culmstock Primary.

After School Club children take part in ‘Forest School Fridays’.

Our After School Club teams work closely together to provide activities based around seasonal festivals, national events and children’s individual needs. For example our activities have been based around the National Children’s Book Week, Royal Christening celebrations, Diwali, Fireworks and of course Christmas!

Holiday club

Our themed Holiday Clubs are available for children up to 16 years.

We plan exciting themes and activities linked to the season and festivals or local traditions. Children get out and about every day, either locally or further afield. Make sure your child brings their coat and wellies, so they’re prepared for anything!

Children attending our Half Term Holiday Club are asked to bring a packed lunch.

Forest School

Forest School sessions run throughout the year as part of our commitment to outdoor learning. After School Club children take part in ‘Forest School Fridays’, with trips to local woodlands to learn survival skills, den building, pond dipping, camp fire cooking and much more. We also take regular trips to our very own allotment in the village.

As well as these sessions we run themed Forest School weeks during the school holidays for older children.

Full day session 07.30 - 18.00

Shorter day sessions 09.00 - 16.00
